Norton-in-Hales 1s 92ao (41.1 overs) lost to Eccleshall 1s 94/6 (28.2 overs) – Norton-in-Hales 4pts, Eccleshall 20pts

Eccleshall moved into the promotion places thanks to an impressive performance on the road at fellow high-flyers Norton-in-Hales.

The visitors won the toss and chose to bowl, but despite some bowler friendly conditions were unable to take full advantage as a handful of catches went down. The hosts reached 53 for 3, with Simon Belfield one of the wickets to fall for 25, when the rain brought a brief halt to proceedings.

But there was a change in fortunes following the recommencement as four quick wickets fell, as Myles Coughlan (3-20) and Braden Gardner (3-24) both picked up three wickets to reduce the home side to 74 for 7 before the rain once again intervened.

Cameron Sinclair returned following the break to account for the tail as he picked up 4 for 48, with wicket-keeper Joe Pelter finishing with five catches.

The Eccleshall openers Tom Hibbert (10) and Myles Coughlan (15) looked to have got themselves set for the run chase, surviving a tricky opening spell before Chris Dyer dismissed them both.

However Zain Shah carried on their good work as he broke the back of the run chase with a watchful 26 until he was bowled by Zafar Iqbal, who then repeated the trick to dismiss Braden Gardner (6).

But Rob Lakin was on hand with a run-a-ball 27 to see his side to victory.

Eccleshall 2s 96/0 (20.1 overs) beat Burslem 2s 92ao (22.1 overs) – Eccleshall 20pts, Burslem 1pt

Jake Derry’s side won in convincing fashion with a ten wicket rout of Burslem.

Dave Robertson (5-35) and Jordan Beasley (5-48) blitzed their way through the visitors line-up, who were grateful to Liam Pattison’s 25.

Andy Parton (39*) and James Dale (51*) were ruthless in their chase to see Eccleshall home with ten wickets to spare.
