Eccleshall 1s 103ao (50.1 overs) lost to Weston 1s 154ao (45.3 overs) – Eccleshall 7pts, Weston 25pts
Eccleshall slumped to their first defeat in six games after being spun out by Weston’s Oman international Zeeshan Maqsood.
Skipper Cameron Sinclair had earlier won the toss and chose to bowl, before claiming 5 for 39 as Weston were dismissed for 154.
Andrew Pickerill had helped his side to get off to a fast start, with a run-a-ball 23 before he was trapped in front by Sinclair.
Myles Coughlan then went through the Weston top order as he picked up 3 for 31.
James Rowland hit a quickfire 47 to energise his side’s innings before Braden Gardner (2-71) had him caught in the slips.
The Ecclshall reply got off to a poor start as Maqsood claimed the wickets of Myles Coughlan and Zain Shah in his first over, but Tom Hibbert remained resolute at the other end as he compiled a watchful 40.
Hibbert was the sixth wicket to fall when he was caught behind off Maqsood (5-50).
James Littlewood helped himself to 4 for 18 as Eccleshall were dismissed for 103.
Eccleshall 2s league match at Cheadle was abandoned without a ball being bowled, and their Talbot Shield match also fell victim to the weather at Burslem on Sunday.
