Eccleshall 1s 134/9 (42.2 ovs) beat Weston 1s 130ao (37.3 ovs) – Eccleshall 20pts, Weston 7pts

Eccleshall made it three wins from three, edging a tight encounter away at Weston.

After losing the toss and being asked to bowl, the visitors made early inroads, as Yasser Tariq(4-67) struck in the second over to remove New Zealander Braden Gardner (5), before trapping fellow opener James Rowland(10) lbw.

Skipper Cameron Sinclair (3-34) bowled Alex Banks(0) and had Chris Barratt(3) caught behind, as the hosts slumped to 20 for four.

Phil Stockton (17) and Martin Dawson (27) staged a recovery of sorts, but Dawson was undone by the off-spin of Jordan Wood (2-22) as he offered the bowler a return catch.

Weston were 81 for 8 when Stockton was dismissed by Tariq, but late cameos from James Littlewood(36*) and Gary Jennison(23) helped them to a defendable score.

Eccleshall’s chase got off to a poor start when Jamie Wood was run-out without scoring and Tom Hibbert(5) was caught in the slips. But Myles Coughlan and Tariq(17) built a platform, until the latter was stumped off the bowling of Paul Newnes.

Coughlan remained patient as wickets fell around him, but with ten still needed and only one wicket remaining, the left hander farmed the strike and struck a six to level the scores before hitting the winning runs to finish on 61 not out.

Eccleshall 2s 186ao (49.3 ovs) beat Weston 2s 135ao (33.2 ovs) – Eccleshall 25pts, Weston 8pts

Paul Cox’s side got back to winning ways with an impressive 51-run win over Weston.

Jake Derry(34) and Andy Parton(40) got the innings off to an excellent start, as Dan Lakin(46) and John Ecclestone(21) added some further impetus. Ed Chappell finishing with figures of five for 23.

Jamie Broadhurst top-scored for Weston with 48, but the visitors were bowled out for 135, thanks to Jake Derry’s five for 39. Cox and Callum Mukerji both claiming two wickets.
